Henry (Navy) Mathis, age 69, of Bartow, FL, died Friday, October 24, 2014, at Bartow Regional Medical Center in Bartow, FL. He was a member of the First Providence Missionary Baptist Church of Bartow.

He was the son of the late George Mathis and the late Essie Mathis. He is survived by his wife: Ethel Mathis; four daughters: Zina Borders, Lakeland, FL; Latosha Mathis, Owings Mills, MD; Naida Rutherford, Columbia, SC; Celestine Thornton, Bartow, FL; five sisters: Oretha Dawson, Bartow, FL; Tru Douglas, Bartow, FL; Brenda K. Mathis, Arcadia, FL; Lois Mathis, Arcadia, FL; and Joanne Mathis, Arcadia, FL; and four brothers: Adolphus Mathis, Queens, NY; Reginald Robinson, Winter Haven, FL; George Mathis, Jr., Orlando, FL; and Ronnie Mathis, Arcadia, FL.

Arrangements are being handled by Gause Funeral Home, 625 S. Holland Parkway, Bartow, FL where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, October 31, 2014. Funeral service will be at First Providence Missionary Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 1,2014.

Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow, FL.
