Obituary

Eva Jane Richardson died on October 19, 2012. She was a life-long member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Gordonville, Florida having joined the church as a child. She served as a devoted and dedicated past member of the Senior Choir, Usher Board (President and member), and Financial Secretary (10+years). She regularly attended and supported Sunday Church School and Worship Service even though her health continued to diminish. She remained faithful until she could not serve.

Eva Jane Richardson was born in Bartow on September 21, 1927 to Richard and Margaret Brown Richardson. She was the fifth of nine children born to this union. As a single woman who bore no children, Eva Jane willingly assumed the responsibility of rearing and helping parent several of her nephews and nieces.

Eva was educated in the Polk County Public School System at Union Academy. She later attended Florida Memorial College in St. Augustine, Florida prior to continuing studies at Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida. She was a Polk County classroom teacher for thirty-eight (38) years. Of those years, thirty-two (32) were spent as a first grade teacher at Frostproof Elementary School. She offered encouragement and inspired many students and parents.

Eva's memories will be cherished by the numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends and acquaintances who have known and been influenced by her. Among those especially bereaved are Rodney Richardson (nephew), Pamela Farnell (special caregiver friend), Henry (Laureen) Richardson, Norris (Theresa) Jones, Seth (Janice), Derrick and Maria Brunson, Gloria (Artis) Washington (eldest niece and shopping partner), Yvonne (Eugene Sirmon)Crawford (half-sister), and Eunice Jennings (very special friend).

Visitation will be Friday, October 26, 2012 at the funeral home from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27, at Goodhope Missionary Baptist Church at 1:00 PM,3397 Old Eagle Lake Road, Gordonville, Fl.
