Conrad Elwood Threatt, age 68 of Bartow, Fl, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at home. He was a member of the St. James AME Church in Bartow.
Conrad Threatt was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marines having served from 1963-1967.He was a Rifleman having been decorated as a Sharpshooter.He received two Good Conduct Medals doing his enlistment period.
Upon his discharge from the Marines, Conrad lived in New York and Alabama. Later he returned to his hometown of Bartow where he became a prominent citizen in this community. He was the Mayor of "Sugar Hill" wherein he maintained order and civility among its residents and visitors. Among his few pleasures was fishing. He was an avid fisherman often boasting the he could catch more fish than anyone else.
Conrad Threatt is survived by his wife: Jacqueline Threatt, Birmingham, AL; twin daughters: Chanel and Tiffany Threatt, Birmingham, AL; one son: Michael Threatt, Birmingham, AL; two sisters: Elizabeth Hazelton, Junction City KS, and Eunice(William) Sanders, Bartow, Fl; two brothers: Cornelius E.(Sandra) Threatt, Bartow, and Clinton(Emma) Threatt, Lake Wales, Fl. One Aunt, Arletha Wilson, Wauchula, Fl.
Conrad also leaves to mourn his passing a host of friends and acquaintances from this community.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, February 1, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. James AME Church, 765 4th Avenue South, Bartow, Fl.
Interment will at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fl.
